Self-initiated motion graphics project designed for social media, showcasing the Pittsburgh Pirates’ batting order in a stylized, cinematic format.
Role: Concept, Design, Animation
Tools Used: Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator
Inspired by the steel-and-smoke aesthetic of Pittsburgh, this animation uses a stylized image of the Roberto Clemente Bridge as its backdrop. Animated film grain overlays the entire sequence, evoking a raw, industrial vibe that reflects the city’s identity and the Pirates’ grit.
Animated black-and-gold Roberto Clemente Bridge backdrop with breathing motion and abstract gold bars flipping in unison.
A rotating ring of “Pittsburgh Pirates” encircles each player’s face, acting as both a framing device and a rhythmic branding element.
Text enters from the left with a displacement map for a distressed, tactile feel. A breathing effect adds organic motion before the text exits, reinforcing the gritty pacing of the sequence.
Each player enters with a layered reveal that animates their name, position, and jersey number, followed by a still image framed by circular text.
A motion-driven tribute to Pittsburgh’s grit, identity, and game day energy. From the breathing black-and-gold backdrop to the distorted text and rhythmic transitions, every element was crafted to feel alive, textured, and bold. This self-initiated project showcases a passion for sports branding and the ability to translate team spirit into dynamic visual storytelling for social media platforms.
